Sarah’s Celebration Forum

Greetings Friends,

We’re using this page as a mini-forum, to avoid using email, and to cut down on long email threads involving multiple people.

The Cedar has graciously offered its space for a musical event to honor Sarah, on Sunday, November 27. It is the Sunday of the Thanksgiving weekend, allowing us to potentially start in the afternoon, and continue on into the evening.

There will be a meeting/party to begin planning this event at 7pm on Thursday, November 3, at 3447 Tenth Avenue South, near Powderhorn Park in Minneapolis. (Liz, Nick, Fin and Anna’s house). (Not on 10/27 as previously posted)

Until then, please bookmark this page and use it to add comments and ideas for the event in the comment field below. You’ll be able to respond to each others comments directly on the page as well.

Please feel free to pass along the link to this page to friends who are interested, and to invite anyone to the meeting/party, even if they don’t want to plan or volunteer. Anyone who wants to be there is more than welcome!

All the best,
Liz & Nick

My name is Lissie Kaufman. My connection would fall under “old family friends with the Bowmans”

I own a backline company that works a lot with the Cedar and I am offering to supply any gear *we own* that you might need to fulfill a bands requirements, free of charge. There is usually a “backline rider” attached to the band’s contract.

My name is Angela Davis. I’m a reporter for WCCO-TV. I’m very interested in doing a story about your friend Sarah Bowman. Please call me at 651-398-4072. That’s my cell phone. I do a weekly feature for Channel 4’s 6pm newscast that profiles someone who recently passed away. It’s called “Life Story.” The report looks at how they lived and how they are remembered by their family and friends, not how they died. I’m looking for someone who is willing to talk about her Sarah in an on-camera interview. Ideally, I’d like to do the interview on tomorrow, Tuesday, November 1, for a story that will air on this Wednesday. Please call me if you think you can help. We can do the interview at any location tomorrow, between the hours of 11am and 5pm. Thank you for your help.

Thank you all, so very much for creating this site and event, to honor the memory of our dear friend, Sarah!
With the passing of Sarah, I, (“we”) have truly lost one of our worlds most beloved, kind, generous, genuine, fun and beautiful people, I have ever known! It has taken time since hearing of Sarah’s death, for me to temper my deep emotional shock, in getting used to acknowleding that I will never see or share this world with her in it, again!
I feel moved to plan on some way, honoring her memory, by creating a scholarship fund or something else, within the non-profit horse and cat rescue, “Tory’s Peace”; dedicated to rescuing the animals of victims of domestic violence.
Sarah was indeed an angel who cared deeply for all animals and people. Sarah shared the comitted interest of becoming active in our project to help victims of domestic violence, concentrating on the rescue of one’s horses and cats, to a secure refuge of safety, therefore allowing the victim to leave their abuser and know their animals will not be left behind!
Sarah understood why over 70% of victims will not leave domestic violence (farm) homes because they feared for the well being of their horse(s) and cat(s) if they left them behind, just to save themselves! Too many people remain “stuck” in abusive relationships and suffer in silence because they are at odds with distress of shame, guilt, financial dificulties etc., but more often so, remain for the concern and worry of the well being for their beloved animals! Sarah’s interest and enthusiasm to help others and their animals will live on in this rescue mission, “Tory’s Peace”. Future plans for adding a dog rescue, is also a concern we shared with Sarah in “Torey’s Peace” mission. All suggestions, concerns and help in assisting in this mission and getting the word out to help, is much appreciated!
Sarah, was a great hope in helping to promote and spread the word for the need to help this mission. We hope to create a model for other rescue missions, specifically to raise awareness and help victims of domestic violence and their animals, to remove themselves from the stigma of violence and restore peace in their lives!
I will forever, deeply mourn and miss Sarah Bowman’s beautiful nature and concerned help, as a best friend and mission activist!
I will love you forever, Sarah! Your gentle, kind, sweet and generous spirit will always be remembered and live on!

    Hi folks,

The Irish community is mourning our loss and many are planning to contribute. I’m organizing a group to put a formal-ish set together, and we could also have a jam session in the lobby at some point if that makes sense. Love

I’ll be at the meeting representing The Cedar. I’m guessing that there are going to be many musicians that would like to perform. One thing that is going to help tremendously is if we can get one set of back line for everybody to use throughout the event. Thanks Liz & Nick for getting this organized.

What time of day on October 27th?

My intent was to provide drums for whomever might need a kit as well as offering to play if needed. It does appear that there will be drummers within the bands that are offering and I imagine will bring their own gear. If that is the case, I am still offering help within my range of expertise and will gladly provide a drum kit if needed. Just doing as Sarah would do had things been different.

You are so welcome Kelli! The night we found out, some of Sarah’s friends gathered and we decided this would be a good way for each other to communicate with Sarah’s wide circle of friends. It is a tonic to hear all the expressions of love for Sarah as the shock of her loss sinks in.
Thank you Drew and Kelli for getting things rolling with your offers!
Hoping people will feel free to put out ideas, offers of help or suggestions to each other about how this day should go. And somehow on this page or at the planning meeting, on the 27th of October, we can try to make some sense of what we have and put together a wonderful Celebration for our very beloved Sarah. If some people are unable to come to the meeting we will have someone take notes that we can put up here.
